Franklin High School
The JV Girls' Field Hockey team's 6-1 in-county record was enough to qualify for the JV Championship game against undefeated Dulaney High School.
The team traveled to Dulaney and was met by family, varsity teammates, and friends ready to cheer the team on. Franklin wanted to avenge a 6-1 loss to Dulaney early in the season and the girls were eager to prove that they were a much stronger team. And, they did!
The girls came out strong and had scoring opportunities early in the game but could not score. Dulaney ran the ball to the other end of the field and earned a penalty corner. They converted it and the score stood at 1-0. Franklin did not back down though and earned their own corners and had shots on goal, but they could not score. Dulaney earned another corner in the 20th minute and converted it as well. At half time, the score was 2-0.
Franklin came out strong in the second half but could not finish. They adapted their defensive corner plays and prevented Dulaney from scoring on any more of their special plays. The girls played with great heart and determination. They moved the ball well, communicated, and left everything on the field. It was a great game by both teams.
